Blue Ridge Labradors

Producing one litter each year, Blue Ridge Labradors LLC is dedicated to breeding world-class field-quality Labrador Retrievers. We LOVE labs, and deplore the overbreeding that has diluted the breed. We strive to produce healthy (we screen for dysplasia, cloudy eye, CNM and EIC: click on each for more information) well-socialized labs that are beautiful to look at, wonderful family members and potential hunt or field competitors. We spend dozens of hours with each individual puppy during its 7-week socialization with us. During this time with them, we expose them to children and to adults, and to water and feathers.  We are able to identify different personality traits, which allows us to match each pup with its new family.

We are not only selective with our breeding, but also with our choice of adoptive families. Our puppies are placed before breeding occurs.  Our highest priority is that pups go to good homes where they will be loved, cared for, and have regular opportunities to run and retrieve. Sixteen states now boast Blue Ridge Labrador families. We stay in touch with our adopting families and are privileged to call them friends.

We live on two acres in western Potomac, Maryland, one mile north of the Potomac River and twelve miles west of Washington, DC. Via this web site you will get a sense of our breeding philosophy and our ethics.
